Year 3 Archaeological dig for rocks & fossils
This half term Year 3 have been investigating Rocks and Fossils as part of their Science lessons.
Over the last few weeks we have delved into the world of stones, fossils and soils, looking at the impact of how these different materials are formed over millions of years. Researching the different types of rocks found in the earth initially, we did a sorting activity to realise which types of stones and rocks belong together as they looked or felt similar.
After the research, we then felt ready to do our own archaeological dig as we could use our knowledge to help explain what we had found. The different types of rocks we dug up were then organised into sections and we drew examples of what we found into our books.
