This Sunday is VE day, the day we celebrate World War II ending. The children today were shown a YouTube clip of a street celebration taking place when it was announced that the war was over. The children had lots of questions about WW II. We discussed and shared information about this war and what it must have been like to live during that period. The children then wrote a diary entry as a person who was there when Winston Churchill announced the end of the war. They imagined how they would have felt and the type of celebration they would have attended. It was a very poignant lesson and I’m sure the children will remember discussing the importance of VE day.
