British Science Week – Science Week
This week Year 3 Seahorses have been participating in British Science Week! We focused on the theme of SPACE and looked at various aspects of this. For our Science project we looked at digital space. We have been finding out about food chains during our topic time, at how each food chain has a mixture of predators and prey. We created our own food chain using the play dough and then created an animation using the iPad! We watched our animations as a class! We will share our animations with our parents next week during our parent event.
We looked at OPEN SPACE by investigating how plants transport water. We set up a simple experiment using celery sticks and dye and observed the results. We found the xylem tubes help to transport the water all-round plants.
We looked at COMPRESSED SPACE by looking at fossils and how they are formed! We really enjoyed using our fossil pack to investigate real examples of fossils!
We investigated PERSONAL SPACE by looking at how the skeleton supports, protects and assists with movement. We are now able to name various bones and describe the function of the skeleton in detail. We can identify which key organs our skeleton is protecting and where these are located.
We hosted a STEM event where parents could come and join in with fun activities.
